Guidelines for Thesis Submission
Guidelines for Thesis Submission
Art. 1 Thesis submission is limited to members of our society.

Art. 2 The submitted thesis could not have been published in other journal or cannot currently be under consideration for
   publication by other journals.

Art. 3 The copyrights of the submitted thesis will automatically belong to the society, so any future uses of the materials in the
   thesis by other publications need to be notified to the society before its use. The submitter is required to fill out and send
   the Thesis Publication and Transfer of Copyrights Consent Form.

Art. 4 If the submitted thesis was used as a graduation thesis, then a footnote with the following statement: “This thesis is
   part of a thesis for master’s degree (or PhD)” needs be included on the first page. Also, the author who received a degree
   from the thesis has to be designated as the primary author.

Art. 5 If the submitted thesis uses results of the research that was done by an organization other than the National Research
   Foundation of Korea, the organization should be contacted to check the feasibility of the thesis submission, so that
   possible plagiarism or research redundancy can be reviewed.

Art. 6 The manuscript should be typed on an A4-sized paper, with a minimum of 9 pages and a maximum of 25 pages. (Other specs: line spacing: 160, font size: 11, font: Courier, program: Hangul 2007 or a later version (or MS Word))

Art. 7 The manuscript should be written either in Korean or English, and the title of the thesis and the author information (name,
   school, department, position) should be written in Korean AND English. In cases of joint researches, the primary author
   needs to be the first name, and the symbol, (+), should be put next to the name of the corresponding author.

Art. 8 Abstract needs to be written in English and be the first part of the thesis.

   1. Abstract should be typed on an A4-sized paper, with a 300-word (1page) limit.
   2. It needs to provide the following information regarding the research: purpose, method, and result. The abstract should
    be a concise description of the contents in the thesis.
   3. Abstract should not include any pictures, figures, or formulas in the thesis.
Art. 9 Keywords are limited to 6 terms, and it needs to be written in English and Korean at the end of the Abstract. If the
   submitted thesis is written in English, Keywords do not need to be written in Korean.

   ex) Keywords: costume, Korean image, society
Art. 10 should be submitted with the Thesis Submission Form(can be found on the society’s website) to and the submission fee
     of $100 should be sent to the society $100:
     After the evaluation, the completed thesis should be organized and sent to the society.
Art. 11 There is a basic printing cost of $200, and additional charge of $20/page after the first 10 pages.

Art. 12 The pictures in the submitted thesis should be in color, and the pictures in the published journal will be in black-and-
     white. If the submitter wants the colored pictures or other extra effects in the journal, the submitter will be required to
     cover the additional charges for the service.

Art. 13 All the figures need to be labeled as〈Fig. 〉and the tag should be located at the bottom-center, and all the tables need to be labeled as〈Table 〉and it should be located at the top-left of the table.
    1. All the〈Fig. 〉and〈Table 〉needs to be marked in the appropriate places within the text.
      ex) gold bracelet〈Fig.1〉 is, or according to〈Table 1〉
    2. The reference methods for〈Fig. 〉 and〈Table 〉 should follow the Guidelines for Format and Reference
    3. If possible, the title and description of the figures and tables should be written in English.

Art. 14 The International System of Units should be used for measurements.

Art. 15When and in-text citation is made, the reference must be presented in the from of “Author-Year”, and its title must be listed in the references section at the end of the paper. For more details regarding the format, refer to the Guidelines for Format and Reference.

The following are the research and publication ethics of "Journal of the Korean Society of Costume"
The authorship should be restricted to those who should meet any of the following conditions: 1) substantial contribution to the conception and design of the study, or acquisition, interpretation, and analysis of data; 2) drafting the article or revising it critically for the important intellectual content; and 3) final approval of the version to be published.

'The author checklist' and 'The Thesis Publication and Transfer of Copyrights Consent Form' can be downloaded from the webpage of the society or the printed version can be copied from the back of the journal.



FORMS OF PUBLICATION
Original Papers: Original research articles on costume-related studies.

Brief Communication: Short reports of original researches.
Letters to the Editor: Letters intended to correct errors in published facts and to provide alternative interpretations of published data.

Reviews or Mini-Reviews: Invited or submitted review papers. A mini-Review is a short review on a specific topic, which is included in a regular issue of the journal.


PEER-REVIEW
All manuscripts are treated as confidential. The manuscripts are reviewed by at least 3 anonymous reviewers selected by the editor. Letter to the Editor are reviewed and published based on the decision of the editor. The corresponding author is notified as soon as the editor makes a decision to accept, reject, or request revision of manuscripts. When the final revision of the manuscript is completely acceptable according to the 'JKSC' format and criteria, it is scheduled for publication in the next available issue. Rejected papers will not be reviewed again.
